hey guys, im bored with the motor in my show truck and its time to make it go fast. it has a 454 from the 70s, likely late smog motor. i never did a whole lot to it, just put some chrome, a intake, and a carb and drove it like that. its slow as snot and im not happy anymore haha. i want to build the motor ive always wanted for the truck, here are the goals. 550-650 streetable hp, 8-71 blower for that awe factor, and its gotta stick out the hood looking badass. i know about building high compression strokers but iver never tried to build a blower motor. i want the 8-71 because its the biggest i know of. whats a good combo for what i want to achieve?

They do make a 12-71 as well, but it takes a sh*t ton of work to make work right.......
I have a 90 454SS and am in the process of doing the same :)

BDS (Blower Drive Service) is a good place to start for info; But there is a lot they need to know about your engine first.
You HAVE to know what heads & pistons are going to be used.
Cam selection will depend on that also.
You might consider an empty case for just a show car, there are lot of guys out there doing exactly that.
And no you will never be able to hang with a real blown car, but one of your high compression strokers w/dual quads would be no slouch.
