long story short my great grandma got a new car so she gave me her old chrysler cirrus and with any car that is not taken care of it has it problems. well to start rats chewd through the front two plug wires, it smokes a little until it warms up and there is a nosie when you make left turns or stop as you turn the wheel real slow it creaps sound very bad. also when I pickd it up started to get hot, So I think the T-stat is stuck close so I change it out to well got the plugs and wires changed. that **** was hard make me glad I drive a OBS. But it is still overheating it will get up to 224 in the driveway idleing. I will turn on the heater and it will go down to 202 and start climbing a little more slowly up. I really dont know what it could be buddy keeps telling me that it's low on water, but the overflow tank is full Im thinking that there is air in the lines. Are there any other reasons why its getting so hott and it has elec fans dont know if they are kicking on I will let you know when I check that in a few hours. just need some other ideas in the meadtime.

ok Fixed the overheating I think It was just air in the system, But found new problem when ever you let the car sit over night you have to give it some gas as you start it. or it will just crank. But if you get out and go to store get back in it starts right up, also we I get out I smell gas coming from somewhere idk

The noise you are hearing when you turn could be a CV going out.

And it sounds like the fuel system is dropping pressure while its parked. Since you can smell gas, I'm guessing its a leak.

where would the fuel pressure port if any would be on that car

If it has one, they are usually on the fuel rail. I don't have any experience with those cars. But I think it has some sort of leak if you can smell gas. Sounds like that is also your problem with hard starts.

Is it like when you let a vehicle sit for awhile and try to start it and it takes alot longer for it fire up then it would if you drove it everyday?

My Grandma had a 1996 Cirrus with less than 20k on it when she passed away earlier this year. Still had the original tires and they were so dry-rotted it was scary to see her driving it. She wasn't about to get new ones though.

I know on the 4 cylinder models there was no fuel filter it was just a sock over the pump in the ..I know a lot of times the throttlebody and intake plenum get extremly clogged with crap and will cause starting problems when cold..as far as the smell of gas possivke fuel leak,o-rings on the injectors going out, or exhuast leak..do yourself a favor and get a repair manual from the parts store

yea I got it off pirate bay saved me 20 bucks yay. I found out that im going to beat the guy who works at oreillys now he is a ****ing ****head he told me that the car hold 3.6 quarts of oil and the book saids 4.5 and when I was buying plugs for it he would not sell me NGK's he was trying to sell me chanpions I do not plug those plugs in anything but a push lawnmower. He kept telling me that the NKG's were too hot for my car I told him if they are too hot why do they recomemed them for the car. Also about the drain plug it comes out chrysler said that a lot of them would get stripped out so no biggie there

I don't about that car, but alot of Mopars from that era are made by Mitsubishi so NGK would be the correct plug.

OK new F U C K ING problem the elec fans wont come on the car will get to up to 220 and I turn the car off. But here is the kicker the fans will come on with the AC comes on the fans will come on I Have already changed out the temp sensor and switch out the relays so thats not it and hooked up a 12volt wire to the fans to make sure the fans work like that it still does. my buddy thinks its the brain could it be that on the plug in that is on the ECM it said it had a software update in 1998 any ideas any body

That's about right for the temp on the fans..as far as the cleaning of the intake you can take the intake out which u said don't want to do. Or go to Oreilys, Seafoam brought out a spray with a hooked spray tube, insert the tube into the air inlet tube before the throttle body start the car and the spray let it run for 2-3 min..wait the instruction are on the can...lol I did that on my wifes honda accord it did a good job
