hidden head unit thread, post pics here

Ive been planning on hidding my cd player in my drop down ashtray in my 95. if any one has done this post up or any hidden hu for that matter.

always thought a cool spot would be to swap the 95 dash with a 97/98 dash minus the passenger airbag, that spot would make a good one, and have the front of the airbag cover it when not in use so it is hidden, from unknown theives that is, anyone who knows it there it wouldnt be hidden from them.

i thought about putting it in my center console but id still like to see it fairly well so i dont veer into something as im changing stations........ lol

I have my cd player under the seat. Its a older sony with the tv tuner that lets me see all the functions on the monitor. I used a PAC rf repeater with the eye monted on the dash so i didnt lose the remote

You could do as I've done before and hide the HU somewhere, then run a remote faceplate in the visor. You gotta be careful with that though, the resistance in the wire might make the faceplate not work at all.

It's not super easy so most don't do it.

I did the remote faceplate, was some tedious soldering! used 3 runs of CAT 5, about 6 feet to under my seat, that was to far because occasionally there would be a random voltage drop in the head unit and it would shut off. It is very doable and extremely hard to reverse. If you want pics I can find some....
