Hi guys, me with what most of you think is another dumb question.
So I'm sorry in advance :)

I picked up a torque wrench: Great Neck MATW1, 3/8" 120-960 in.lbs (my first one)
Not of the highest caliber but good enough for my uses.

I can't make sense of the instructions as far as figuring out what to set it to.
I need 24 ft.lbs which is 288 in.lbs but the wrench scale jumps from 240 to 360.

They have 3 examples in the 2 pages worth of instructions, but the math for each example doesn't seem to match.

idono, I'm lost on this one. I've run a s**t load of searches.
But all I ever get is some guy telling you how to adjust the wrench, but now how to figure out what to set it to.

Thanks again,

Kenny

This is a "micrometer style" torque wrench, so the handle you are turning to adjust it has vertical hash marks on it that would equal 1 in/lb.

Someone else posted the same issue on another forum, I'm using the picture because it was the only close up picture I could find of this exact wrench.

The has marks going up and down in the picture are 1 in/lb so you would tighten the handle to 240 then one more full turn would be 250, two turns 260 etc. so four full turns past 240 would be 280 then 8 more hash marks to 288 in/lb or 24 ft/lb.

This is pretty standard for this type of wrench any brand, its also good practice with this type of wrench no matter how cheap to completely loosen it when it is not in use.
