I have a 2010 WT more or less. I have the stock Am/FM radio no cd player. I also don't have OnStar. However i do have cruise control, power locks, and power windows.

I'm wanting to replace my factory stereo with this unit. JVC KW-XR610 (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KWXR610/JVC-KW-XR610.html?tp=5684)

However, I'm not sure of exactly what I need. Some people say they needed an Amplifier to make their stereo work. Then theres the wire harness, because I dont have onstar I dont think I need the expensive harness. I found this harness that says it keeps the door chimes. LC-GMRC-LAN-01.http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_26125_Metra_Electronics_LC-GMRC-LAN-01.aspx

So what exactly do I need?

I didn't use a harness. Kind of like not having the chimes.

Did you have the Am/FM Radio only? I thought about splicing and soldiering the wires but I wasn't sure if it would work. what chimes do you lose?

Yes I had the am/fm only. Everything was just spliced and soldered together. I lost all chimes. No turn signal noise, no if you leave key in, no seatbelt, no if you leave lights on, no nothing.
