my dad has a 1998 4wd blazer.
bought it, PO said it was a bad fuel pump. sure enough, pump worked but was weak at under 40 PSI. replaced the pump, now it sits pretty at 65 psi. but still no start.
check spark, has it but was weak, so gave it a tune up and spark got better, but still will not run.
it will start on Ether so we know it is not a timing/spark issue now. narrowed down to fuel.
checked the injector wiring and all injectors are getting signal. someone suggested a bad EGR not letting the engine pull enough vacuum to start so we checked it and it appears to be working properly.
what am i missing? short of pulling the intake to change injectors, i am at a loss as far as what it wrong./

by any chance is the security light on? My brother's 98 S-10 gave us fits because the lock cylinder was worn out and not recognizing the key. The security system shuts off the fuel flow, so the truck will crank, and sometimes fire for a second...and then die. Like yours, it would start on ether, but it would die as soon as it ran out.
If the security light is on, try a key relearn : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090126061846AAHVumn. This worked temporarily for my brother's truck, but we ended up replacing the lock cylinder in the end...I think it was about $60 from the dealer.
if that's not it, have you checked the fuel pressure?

2nd line of my original post :read:
but i read about the passlock security feature but everywhere i read said most likely it would start but die as it cuts off the injectors. and the security light is not on.
but got it to atleast run today, but once started threw a Crank sensor code. gonna replace that tomorrow and hope for the best.
did you check out the spider assembly to make sure that is working correctly....once that goes you will have a no run condition....or ive even seen a run rough condition combined with terrible mileage

this is to late for the spider injector. i believe 96 or 97 was the last year for that intake setup, this has 6 injectors under the plenum.
but it currently runs, not great, but runs none the less. now it may jsut be boiled down to bad gas.
the issue before was a blown fuse. somthing i would have never have guess would have mattered but the fuse for the cigarette lighter was blown. replaced it and it fired up. to be sure if was no fluke, we pulled the fuse and once again no start.
now the issue is 4wd does not engage
