Well I dynoed my 195,473 mile police tahoe this evening. It made 200hp@4377 and 297ftlb@3300. I am pleased with the results for it being all stock. Keep in mind it has a 3.08 gear and the wheel speed was in excess of 125. Just a FYI.

125 MPH was it??? What did you run it up to, 5,600 rpm fuel shut-off?

No I never got that high. With the loaded run we could make it to 4600 before it ran out of steam, Unloaded it made it to 5500. I have HP Tuners and have the speed limiter off. Stock program still with a 50% TM reduction.

Heres the dyno video unloaded. Enjoy.

BTW only ran it 4600, not 5500 as I had thought. Also my "Certified speedometer" showed 122mph.

Something weird going on. Were you getting any knock retard on the runs?

What kind of dyno was that? Did it have large rolls? It would have been cool to try a 2nd gear pull.

these stock have a 125mph limiter dont they, I have a police 130mph cluster for my 97 truck.

Thanks for posting, if you lean out the PE mode fuel multiplier you will net some decent power. they are really rich stock.

No matter what your numers are, now you have a baseline for any mods you do now.

Nice! Why's it have 3.08's?? I've never heard of that i thought they all had 3.73's and i've never seen 3.08's in any OBS newer than like 96! strange...

It's a police package truck is why. Much like my LT1 powered 9C1 Caprice was ( went with 3.42's now) the trucks have the 3.08 rear end gears for "extended periods of high speed driving". It's an LOL as it's still a Tahoe but that is the theory with it.

Pretty decent numbers for a near 200000 mile Vortec 350 either way.

It was a Mustang dyno, The operator can pick your vehicle from a list and it automaticly sets the dyno for load, wind resistance, etc. I think he had mine loaded to much> think the list was is not right on the weight.

All police T Hoes have 3.08, unless its 4x4.

Just need a basline before I added my Whipple charger that I picked up a couple of years ago. Installed this weekend and working on my tune now. I will post a picture soon.

The 3.08 for police package Tahoe is right on the money.

The Mustang is a realistic dyno. Honestly I doubt on flat level road you would get much over 4,500 rpm out of a 3rd gear pull on a stock 5.7 Vortec. I had the Express to 110-115 one time with nothing more than a K&N drop-in and PCM tune. It didn't have much more left in it at that speed ~5,000 rpm.

Is that off Geer St, right before you get to 70? I know there used to be a performance shop in that area.

Yea, no doubt she was out of breath. I have a plan for that.

Top speed as tested new was 123 mph, so I would say you are not doing too badly.

In testing the Police Package Tahoe reached a top speed of 123 MPH, and had 0-60 times of 9.4 seconds.

The NNBS 320 HP 5.3 trucks only produce 127 mph from their sleeker bodies as well.

Im happy. Just a baseline before I add the Whipple charger I picked up a couple of years ago. Installed over the weekend and doing a tune right now. I cannot post pictures for some reason. Anyway once tuned it's back to the dyno.

I looked at a NNBS T hoe from the our Highway Patrol. Still too high on the price. 2008 with police package and 90k was $14,000. I'll wait a little longer.

About a mile from Northen High School off Milton Rd. I worked at Tire King right off Rigsbee Ave from 05- early 08, and worked at Piedmont Communications off Camden Ave for early 08 til October of this year. I met you at a meet before, i used to be TheBigRedZ71, had the 99 Sierra Z71.

Good thread. I have a 96 Tahoe with 196K on the clock. Runs very well, those numbers are impressive really. I just put the MPFI spider in last weekend. Really smoothed out the idle, and around town driving. No drastic seat of the pants improvement for wide open performance, not that I really expected much.

Are you going to do any mods/upgrades to the engine before adding the Whipple? I've heard some say that heavy performance mods on an older/hi mile engine is asking for trouble. I disagree on these engines.

I would put a new high volume/high pressure oil pump in though.

No, just bolt-on, tune and go. T I am easy on my vehicles in Daily Driver duty. If I do hurt it I have a LQ4 6.0 in the shop waiting its turn.

She had 130k on the clock and about 4000 in repairing the motor. Tranny and rear end were on the outs, dash electrical was actin funny. Found the HD for a heck of deal and Hendrick Pre-Owned gave me a good trade in price so I hoped on it! I miss it every day tho. But 6.0/4L80E>5.3/4L60E imo. lol

Hitting the keys too fast. The best my Dmax had was 20 on a trip and 17 around town. Sold it last October, do miss the truck, don't miss the $3.11 for diesel.
