Haven't used it myself but looks like they designed it to be just shy of the bed floor. If you've got a shortbed 88-98 you'll have to notch the center bed support out, no big deal. You probably already have it notched in the middle for the pumpkin.

My bolt-in notch only gives me about 3.5" travel because my truck has the 14 bolt SF which has a larger axle housing. I've already bent the bottom of the notch on both sides (I'm static, not bagged.) If I went to that Super C I could get up to 6" more travel, though the pumpkin will probably bottom out on the floor at about 2~3" or so short of that.

Yeah i have obs shortbed i don't mind a little cutting on the bed supports. But i use my bed a lot i don't want a huge notch and have to cut up the bed to get it low.I'm going to run the kp 6 link just not sure on what notch yet.

Someone (I forget who, in the ads it's painted yellow and it's NOT AIM) makes a complete bolt in notch just like that. That's the route I would go, why build one if one is already make to go? :dunno:

http://www.ridinlowcustoms.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=under+the+bed+ notch&image.x=18&image.y=7

Ridinlow has them for $98.99 but its just the same as the AVS one... Search the topic and their is a thread where someone here drilled holes in a set and made it a bolt on... looked good.

**EDIT***Mounts under the floor of the bed, so cutting the bed floor out is not required. 88-98 model lays frame on 18” and smaller wheels. 99-04 model lays frame on 20” and smaller wheels.

I too am thinking about getting this notch but I would rather have a bolt in since I will be bagging the truck next year and that would make it easier on me.

My bolt-in notch is welded in. I wouldn't trust a bolt-in notch (especially a really tall one.)

Bolt-in...

Just my opinion, obviously there are plenty of bolt-in notches out there working just fine. The bolt-in on my '92 was fine for a long time, until the nuts backed out. Good thing I caught it quick before it came apart. The nuts were ny-lock, too, so go figure.

The pic is from someone else's dually, so the weight will be a factor, but the pictures are still pretty disturbing.

The pics posted I am sure are from not drilling the corners. I am willing to bet a good deal of money they made a sharp corner and that is why it cracked. Bolt in vs. Weld in had nothing to do with the frame braking.
