hey guys i had just installed some nice chrome wheels i got from craigslist and got them polishished and wax hoping they wouldnt get too bad that is till we got hammered with freesing snow/rain and they used a salt brine on the road. My question is what do i use to remove the surface rust that has shown up on the rims
Is the rust in the rim or on the rim? If on the rim it could be material from the brakes that could easily be claybar'd off. If the rim itself is rusty, chrome polish and 0000 steel wool will take care of it.

i had rust on my chrome rims from my tacoma and i just used an sos pad and a whole lot of albow greese to get it off but if the rust is on the rim itself and not just on the chrome it will rust again unless you seal it with something

you can use some kind of the polish or the sand paper to remove rust completely.

#0000 steel wool with a foaming glass cleaner, then chrome polish.

Becareful not to do it too hard. I had some chrome rims on my trans am they were rusting in one spot. I steel wooled it and it made the chrome flake

The other rims that were on the truck had the chrome flaking off cause the previous owner never cleaned em. And when I cleaned and polished em the chrome flaked off. I might just use the old ones for winter tires
