Hi,

I've got a '79 C10 stepside with the 250ci straight 6 and a 3 speed manual that I picked up about a year ago. It has over 300,000 miles on it according to the previous owner.

I bought it for a project. The motor burns about as much oil as fuel.
I've been tossing around the idea of a 6.2 diesel + a turbo (I'm a huge diesel enthusiast)
I'm going to be taking an engine rebuilding class this coming semester and the idea of rebuilding the original I6 crossed my mind. I'm a big fan of unique motor setups.

I did some research and saw some info about people having good results out of going forced induction.
Anyone have experience with turboing a 250?

Also, any ball park figures on parts cost for a rebuild that would hold up to boost?

Any and all advice is welcomed!

here's the truck in question:
