I was thinking about putting the 6.5 intake and turbo setup on my 6.2 but im wondering about how how much life i would be taking off of my engine.. im not trying to make to much power out of it. "i do know it wont be a powerhouse either way" but am lookin to pep it up a lil.. but i do not wanna sacrifice the life of my engine.. to much ideas? suggestions? thanks

How would the turbo sacrifice any life? A lot of people will put a 6.2 in their truck that originally had a 6.5 and put all their accessories on it. Also many put the turbo accessories on an 80's 6.2. About the harest part is getting the oil feed line hooked up for the turbo. 6.5 has a thread right in the back of the block, while a 6.2 wont, but you can tee off your pressure sensor. No biggy. Def worth it!!!

Increased cylinder pressure and mainly increased power........bumping up the power puts more stress on everything and causes more heat. I think if you keep the boost pressure down and watch the EGT's there wouldn't be any significant decrease in life.

Yeah, it may put a little more stress on things, but there are MANY people who have done it. First you have to realize how high your comression is. That being said i wouldnt run anything over 8PSI WOT. Keep that in mind and you will be fine.

id keep it under 10 psi 8 if you have high miles and get a pyrometer to watch egt's iirc the magic number to keep egt under is 1100

Lower the compression and it should be fine. A lot of people do these conversions with no issues at all. Most go with the 6.5 heads. Better injectors and better flow, i'd imagine you could keep the same old manual injector pump? I dunno. I'd love to do it one day. Go ahead and do it, post lots of pics and tell us how things go.

Lowering the compression is a little more intesnse than needed. Although it will enable you to boost more. You can keep the I/P (mechanical).

Cometic makes a set of head gaskets that lower the compression to roughly 18-19:1 as opposed to 22:1. They aren't cheap though so if you wanted to go another way you can use a set of fel pro head gaskets that are designed for blocks that have been decked. I think it's .10" thicker, which could drop the compression a point or two.

So either of those headgaskets, ARP head studs and stud girdle and you could reliably handle 8+ psi without sacrificing much life of your engine. Otherwise it's a much needed boost to the N/A 6.2L. I'm patiently waiting for my turbo setup to arrive so i can begin doing some work on mine.
