I have a Black NBS and it has some scratches/wear on it but yesterday some guy decided it needed a little a more so he hit me. Well it looks like it's more of a scuff than anything. I got all his paint off just useing paint thinner (per my body guy) but now I need to buff the scuff out.

So with that said I can't afford any fancy high dollar polishes or electric tools. So I have one of those $20 "polishers", Craftsman 6in sander/polisher, and a Mothers Powerball....

As far as compunds this is what I have...
Car Brite Phaze Glaze Cleaner & Glaze
TurtleWax Rubbing Compound heavy duty cleaner
TurtleWax Polishing Compound and scratch remover
Zymol cleaner wax
Meguiar's Cleaner wax
Meguiar's mirror glaze #2 Fine-cut cleaner
Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Paint cleaner step #1
Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Polish Step #2

So my question is can I use any of this stuff in any combination to clean up my truck? I'm currently unemployed so I can go spending money to clean this up so I thought I'd ask the experts and see if what I have will work with out ruining my truck. I've never had a black vehicle so I'm really scared of just making it worse...

Fortunately, small areas of scuffs can be worked to perfection by hand if you are determined enough. Your list of supplies lists only one product that has abrasives in it, which is what you need to remove the scuffs.
That product would be the Turtle wax polishing and scratch remover is what you want to use.

I can't say for sure how well it's going to work without photos of the damage. You might need to have deep portions of the scuff worked on a bit with some wetsanding, but I recommend working the area with that polishing compound and see where that takes you. It may take more than a few applications of working that polish on the area to get some good progress and results. This should be done by hand with a foam applicator or a soft microfiber/cotton cloth or some sort. Youtube has good how-to videos of this sort of stuff to guide you.

By the way, your truck didn't happen to be involved in this did it?

Ok thanks, that's what I was thinking. I have pics but their on my phone I can upload some later if need be. I'm not afraid of working stuff by hand most of the time that's what I do just to stay on the safe side!

Man that thing did go viral huh!!! LOL!! No I staied home that day but it is/was right around the corner and a friend of my wifes is the guy who filmed it......

I forgot to mention that scartches deep enough to catch your finger nail tend to require wet sanding. If you finger nail doesn't catch badly on any of the scuffs, you should get some great results with what you have.

CO, especially where you are, has such odd weather from what I can tell in the couple of times I have visited the state to go ski/board. I stayed in CO Springs on one of my trips and I guess earlier in the day the area got 4 inches of snow but it was completely melted by the time we rolled in later in the day. I heard that's common there... to get snow overnight but have it melt away quickly. Some of the streets there had some serious hills and that video probably doesn't do a good job of portraying how steep the hill is. Crazy though.

Yep that's our lovely weather! 4 inches of snow in the a.m. and 80* weather that afternoon! LOL!!! I've lived in the Springs my whole life and don't know any diffrent. When people come to visit they always ask what weather to pack for and I always say "everything" because you never know around here!

And yes that hill is really steep, we have quite a few roads I avoid when it snows even when I'm driving my rock crawler, it's just not worth the risk. And to top it off that was our first snow storm of the season and it moved in in about an hour so no one was ready for it, ended up dumping close to a foot in several hours! But because it was warm in the a.m. it was a sheet of ice under all that snow which = fun driving.

I don't think the scuff has any deep scratches, I'll see if I can get some good pics today once the frost melts off...

Thanks for all your help!

I had to do a similar cosmetic repair on a 2008 cadillac cts. All of those scuffs came out but there were a few areas where the paint was removed down to the ABS plastic bumper. If there is paint there, generally it will polish to the point where you will barely be able to tell anything ever happened. Most of what I see there seems to just be superficial clear coat damage.
