Ford Focus Help?!?!?!

My brother has a ford focus, and tonight after work he couldn't get the ignition to turn over. Naturally the first thing I thought was the steerings was locked, so I told him to shake the wheel and turn the ignition. But that did nothing, so I went to try it myself and sure enough nothing. The ignition won't budge, has anyone experienced this before, is it a problem these cars have? Or is there something I'm missing?

yes it is a common problem esp on the older ones

you might be able to get it to move by tapping on the end of the key while trying to turn it

its most likely gonna need a new ign tumbler assembly
