Its probably a good chance the PMD is overheating and shutting your injectors down. Have you ever done a PMD relocate/ heat-sync kit for it? I'm no expert in the 6.5, but this is the biggest issue with them and the PMD over-heating is easily the #1 problem for the 6.5's Also your truck is pre 97' so it doesn't have the better HO cooling system.

Good call on keeping the EGR cleaned out though, you keeping the fuel filter changed fairly reguarly too?

the SSdiesel kit has also been linked to failures

The Heath diesel kit has no known failure due to the design, and one heck of a warranty.

I do agree, it sounds like the PMD failing.

I never knew that, of course i've never messed with them so I wouldn't know, but thats good to know.

I always figured heath's parts to be better anyways, he seems to know a lot more about the 6.2/6.5's.

It could maybe be the in-tank fuel pump? We had a cummins at work loose that pump but the main injector pump would pull through the failed in-tank pump. Once the truck was up to operating temps it would shut down and wouldn't crank until it cooled back down again. I dunno, if your like the rest of us, chances are you don't have $400 to just throw at it. But i've also heard the PMD relocate kit is a must for all 6.5s, no matter what...

The 6.5 uses a pump mounted along the frame rails under the driver seat area, no in tank pump. There is a pickup in there with a sock on it that can get clogged over time but causes other issue's.

Thats awfully expensive though...

This is a decent explaination of the PMD or FSD: http://flashoffroad.com/Diesel/injectionpump/fsd.htm

From what I can tell that BD Diesel kit only comes with the heat sync and two bolts. You'll still need the new PMD and an extension harness and most likely some thermal grease...
