I am getting a 2004 Chevy Malibu for free from my aunt this weekend just because she got a new car from another member in our family. It has the 4 cylinder and automatic transmission. It only has 80k on it. She lives down in Phoenix where it is a lot warmer, and I live up in the mountains in Flagstaff where very low temperatures occur regularly in the winter months. When I get the car into the cold weather, I am going to at least change the oil, trans fluid, and coolant. Anything else I should double check or anything? I have never really been around these cars but hear they are pretty reliable if maintained. I know she replaced the fuel pump less than a month ago. I think I am just going to drive this so I can fix some stuff on the old obs and not have to daily drive it then after a while sell the malibu and make nothing but profit off of it.

got the car, coolant looks to be serviced recently, trans fluid is nice and red and the only thing I can tell it needs is an oil change and tire rotate and balance. Gonna be a good commuter car for a while!

I have an 03' Malibu/V6 for I use to get to work etc. May as well say its my daily driver. Anyways, it has 190K on it, get 26-28 mpg and pretty much trouble free. All I've done on it is normal maintenance stuff, thats it.
Just get in and go!!!

I have an 03 as a beater as well. I paid 3K for it due to the throttle sticking and the young guy did not
want to fix it. I replaced the pedal asm and put in a wiper motor and been a good car for 4 years so far.
