going to put a 6.2 or 6.5 in my little half ton, my question is if the input shaft and the splines will work with the 6.2 clutch and all. or if i need to get something changed or custom made. Thanks.

I wouldn't ask 6.5 questions on this forum. Go over to thetruckstop.us, they have quite a few very knowledgeable members on the detroit diesels. They'll be able to answer that and any other questions you'll have along the way.

Unless you have a need to toast bearings, I'd find a different tranny. That Getrag 5 spd is one of the worst POS trannys imo. I have one sitting in the storage barn. The input shaft bearing is a piss poor design (plastic!) that won't hold up to a 350, much less the torque of the diesel. New bearings the last time I checked run about $500. That's why I swapped out for an NV4500. (wish I'd kept that tranny!!)

ha well i'm running a 350 on my getrag and its been fine. They're rated for like 310ftlbs and the 6.5's i believe factory put out 340 ft lbs. i was only trying to use this one to stay within budget, but i'm putting this swap on hold till next year so i'll just prolly end up getting a 4500 then anyway. Thanks for all the replies.
