Hey folks I'm new to this game having finally decided to hang up my ducati leathers and focus my gearhead addiction on something I can sit in, not on. I bought a beautiful 96 silverado, black with purple pearl, 4/6 beltech drop c nothced with airride bags in back, sir micheals roll pan frenched in, hideahitch, tinted windows, kickass music, new upper/lower ball joints, eaton 3.73 posi with curry axles, k&n air filter, 17" eagle alloys all around, new radiator-water pump and belt tensioner, new egr valve, and fuel pump, billet grill, flowtech headers with flowmaster system, new tune up plugs wires, rotor, and more. pRoblem? 205K. original owner tho, always garaged and used gently for towing drag racer on weekends. $5k. I love this truck, and needed one for our move from bay area to san diego, but do you think it was worth the price? It runs and drives like new(almost), but has original motor/tranny. I would love to do a BB tune, but what do you think? and which One? thanks a million chuck

Dude, I'm in the same boat as you. I bought my 98 w 250000 miles and it looks like it has a third of it. Anyone that has been in dang near crap when I tell them the miles. I put on try y thorley headers, made my own cai, had a custom 3 inch no cat exhaust done up and capped it off w a blackbear tune. It it was taken care of I wouldn't worry bout it. The po of mine drove 50mi one way to work and was the original owner from 98 to 2010. Sounds like yours shares common history.

I thin I noticed how much better the tranny felt more than how much better the engine ran. I have an 89 octane tune, 80 tm removal I believe, stock speed limiter and firmer shift but not crazy hard. The 91oct might have more oomph but I cry as it is at the pump. As for the 411 swap if I had one lying around id be worth a shot but for a stock truck I personally wouldn't do it. I'm sure it has its benifits but its kinda like the tune, its just uncovering more power in motor, not giving you more. Know what I'm saying?
