I am acutally Paladin, but I'm on a computer I don't normally use and can't seem to get my security question correct when I'm logging in so I reregistered under a different name. Now my question.

My 2000 Venture van won't pass inspection because of these codes.P0401, P0404, P0405, P1404 and P0742. The last deals with the transmission (TCC solenoid failure) which will make the transmission lurch sometimes. The others all deal with the EGR valve. I'm just curious if there is something short of just buying a new EGR valve that I can do? Do all the codes add up to a particular problem? Thanks.

I am replacing some of the hoses to see if that clears the codes. There is a short "U" shaped one just to the front of the EGR valve thats deteriated and one that goes from the fubber intake boot just after the air cleaner to the back of the block (maybe to the back of a head-hard to tell). This one has a rubber fitting that presses into the block/head that is all but gone. Maybe this will help but probably won't. Seeing that I dropped my only 10mm socket to the abyss behind the motor and it failed to reach the concrete, I gave up replacing the valve. I think that if it comes down to replacing it, the wishbones will have to come off and the engine pulled forward. Anyone want to buy a slightly used Venture van with only 229,000 miles???
