You can get a chip. http://www.tbichips.com has them.

cam needed depends on what you want, top-end screamer, stump puller, hybrid of the two?

Of course there will always be those like chris who can't.

I can read dipsh!t. He asked about a chip- which has to do with tuning.

To answer the Q, "would it be easier to fine(d-sic) a chip"

A chip can't/doesn't do what a camshaft does.

You cannot make a significant change of camshaft without needing significant changes in the tune.

Nobody who wants high performance from a EFI engine should be looking for such from a mail order vendor, end of story.

No chippi you, no chippi him, no chippi, no chippi.

Least of all a chip vendor with such lame dyno results,...now if one of the other TUNERS want to chime in.

He (or she?) asked about a different cam, or maybe instead an aftermarket chip that would give him some performance. That is the way I read the OP. He didn't state "high performance" Maybe he wants a bit more torque for pulling a trailer. Who knows? Maybe he doesn't know squat about EFI and just got his first FI vehicle. The OP just joined in Jan 2011. Cut him some slack. Not everyone knows about stickies. Especially a newbie to the forums. Even more especially one that is new to forums in general.

Thanks Chris, for pointing out the need to read stickys, if for nothing but that the title might lead to the answers a member seeks.

Understand that any kind of real life use of a pickup is considered "severe duty" by the manufacture,..let alone stop & go traffic, which is considered severe by all manufactures.

Now someone is asking to up the anty..see where I'm going? And we ain't talking race..where you are on your own dime...period.

You will earn your way in, I can sense the desire, give it time & study.
Edit: Dude your 40, put a hustle on it.

You referring to me, re: your edit? I am working on it. I just decided late last year to do something with this truck instead of just drive it like it was. It is just my daughter and I in this house. I don't have the money to "play" right now. Upgrades for the truck are not as important as the necessities for us. They cut down on our OT at work, which is how I did all the stuff I did to it in November, December, and last month. I am about to start buying parts so when my brother gets out of the big house (Aug 2013) we can build the motor for it that I want. Paint will come this year some time. Going to try and do some body work this Saturday. But let's let this thread get back on topic.

LOL at the smilie you used. I spend more time on here than any other site, learning all I can about these trucks. Especially since I decided to keep this one and build it. I read more than I post.

Make a new thread in the performance section. Maybe name it something like "Need help choosing stuff to give me more torque". But really, use the search feature. Search for cam selection, or tuning options. Or do like I do- just read threads that might have the info you want. If you can't find what you want to know then ask. I have spent evenings just reading and not making a single post. Read my thread on "biggest cam you would run on the street" or something like that. Lots of info given in that one.

As a WELCOMING member on here, please just ignore anything anyone has to say about using the search feature (well, don't ignore it b/c it does help). Some people act all holier than thou and like to build themselves up at your expense. To this day I don't see why they do it as everyone is a noob at some point and they just love making it harder on you.

Read up as much as you can and ask any question you want. If you get smart@ss replies, you'll know who's a douche and who isn't.

So you want him to ignore, or not ignore, advice to use the search feature? I'm confused.

This is all true.

The OP has a few other threads that lead me to believe DIY tuning is likey out of his reach.

He can use the search feature but ignore the condescending remarks that people give for asking a simple question.

Keep in mind that people with information hold all the cards.

When those people are good people, they share by posting.

If there's some perceived attitude in those posts, you can chalk a majority of it up to having answered the same question for the 10,523rd time to someone that failed to read the FAQ / sticky posts first. You can chalk the rest of it up to having answered the same question for the 625,345,241st time to someone that didn't try a simple search first, in lieu of there being a FAQ or any sticky posts.

If beyond that there's still some perceived attitude or adversarial tone, one still has the option of gleaning info from said posts while ignoring the comments (as you mentioned) or they can choose to become butthurt about it and gain nothing from the exchange...except butthurt.

The "search" function is probably the most useful part of ANY forum. Every member, regardless of skill level, owes it to themselves to learn effective use of the search (and more appropriately, advanced search) function. Any less is to cheat yourself out of years and years of collective knowledge on a wide array of subjects.

Amirite?

Richard
