Im going to do some exhaust work and i wanted to know it the things i have picked out go together. I wanted these headers http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PSM-70-2265/ And with those i know my stock y pipe will not work. Since i have one bad cat im just going to eliminate them. So will this y pipe go in place of the one i have and hook direectly to the headers im looking at? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PSM-82-1176/ Thanks for the help. If you have any other suggestions on an exhaust setup im all ears.
Edit* this is on an 02 Chevy ext cab, 4wd with a 5.3. sorry bout that

Yes, those are both the right parts.
I suggest using these clamps >http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-692300/ Instead of the U bolt clamps that come with the Y pipe, U bolts crush the pipes and leak.
You can re-use the stock bolts and gaskets
And run whatever muffler you want

okay thanks. I only plan on using clamps at the header. The rest of it im going to get all set up and bolted where i want it then use the clamps to hold it snug then take it off and weld it up. A good weld beats any clamp IMO. I already have a cat back set up, but since my cats are shot im just gonna eliminate them. I just need the pipe to take the place of them. I see you have the Pacesetters. How difficcult was the install? Did you notice much change in perf, mileage?

Not difficult at all, its all common sense and straight forward. The passenger side has to go in from underneath almost vertically and the drivers goes in from up top.
Performance gain was amazing, a lot more responsive and just easier to get up in go now. Idk about mileage, its a truck i really don't care haha

I was curious. I have a nova with a small block and when i put the engine in it the headers were on it. I bought a new set and put on it and it was easier to pull the engine than to get them around everything. And my buddies ford truck was a biotch to do. Good to hear its halfway simple. Do you still run cats? I like it loud but im hoping its not gonna be deafening. Thats what my nova is for.

What muffler will you be running?
No im not running cats, I run a magnaflow muffler dumped over the axle so its not loud but still noticeable.
We're actually gonna be installing pacesetters and Y pipe this Saturday on a buddies truck, its easy with 2 people.

I have a cherry bomb pro single in dual out, pipes coming out at corners of the bumper with stainless cherry bomb tips. Its not to loud now, i just didnt know what the cat delete would make it do, along with better flowing headers. I assume your tune took care of your o2 sensor problem?

Tip. Put the Y pipe in first over the trans cross member and then the headers, makes life easier.
