Hi all, looking for some advice or help on what to do here. My '93 GMC step side panel bracket bolts are refusing to let go. I soaked the threads for days and so far I've broken two #40 torx sockets and stripped two bolt heads. Should I just get new side panels, or is there a special trick for these. The side panels are in good shape and I don't want to destroy them unless that's the only option..... I may just remove the whole bed, but I was hoping for disassembly to paint everything.

your best bet in my opinion is to go at it with a cut off wheel if you cant get them to move. Cut at the heads like a phillips screwdriver and break them off, then worry bout gettin the bolts out with vice grips, or drill em out and retap.

You could try heating it up and get it real hot then get a wax candle and let the wax seep through into the threads. when it cools itll stay down there and help ease getting them out
