i bought a bed for my 90 and the floor supports underneath are gone but the bedsides are mint and the bedsides on my truck are junk so i was wondering if i remove the bedsides off the bed if i really need to go out and buy the spot weld drill bit or if a regular one is ok to get the job done

I have never heard of a spot weld drill bit. Something to google I guess.
I have heard of people just using a regular drill bit. . .

Maybe you can see this.

I have used the harbor freight ones some, they work ok. We also use pilot point bits. They have a smaller drill bit end. They work nice for removing panels and leaving metal to weld your new panel on with.

I've used a air grinder with a cut off wheel. Takes a second or two per weld and you're done. Easy and Painless.

don't wander like a regular drill bit, precise hole,so you don't have fix egg shape holes.

Don't get just one grab a few. The stepped drill bits work good to and are easy to find at lowes or home depot.
