I'm looking at that truck for sale and was wondering if they're any known problems with that style. I was told there were a few bad years for the Duramax but don't know which ones. Truck has 85k miles. Crew cab, fully loaded, leather, sunroof, nav and all that stuff. Also what is the MPG? I've been searching and still can't find it..

Thanks yall

01 to 03 had injector issues than some 04's had over heating issues. The LBZ motors are considered the best for pre emissions stuff. Last tank i got 18.5 mpg.

So then this truck that I'm looking at is the NBS 07 and that would have the LMM Motor? Whats up with this DPF in the newer ones? any power loss because of it?

the DPF is for emissions. no real power loss, but there's usually a little higher fuel consumption with it.

Right on, I've been looking and found that you can delete the DPF. Man it's a really nice truck though. I'm not to big of a fan of the new style (2007) but I guess I could get used to it or put the GMC grill on the 07 Chevy and it would look better lol

There is 07 NBS (LBZ) and 07.5 NNBS (LMM). DPF can be taken off but is a very hefty fine if caught removed.

The LLY wasnt that bad for overheating. It happens when pulling heavy in hot conditions, and is caused by the small turbo inlet. Easily cured by a replacement (from either AFE or swapped in from a lbz). Thats what mine is and no problems at all

Did you have the dealership check the vehicle out while you were there or voice your concerns to the salesperson about the vehicle? You also have the option of getting the vehicle inspected. If the vehicle is certified, a warranty will come with the vehicle. You also have the option to purchase an extended service contract at the time of purchase. That would give you further piece of mind. You can view the different plans we have available on this website before going into the dealership at gmprotectionplan.com. Good luck with your purchase!

The LBZ is a solid engine. It doesn't have the same propensity for injector issues like the LB7, it has a bigger cooling stack and fan to prevent overheating like the LLY, doesn't have DPF like the LMM and up. This is typically considered the "Duramax to have" when it comes to the entire 10-year lineup.

Good luck! Sounds like a nice truck for sure.

Sales people don't know their ******* from their elbow when it comes to a vast majority of the trucks on their lots.
