Alright, here's the down low. I have a 1993 GMC Sierra, 4x4, 1/2 ton, extended cab pickup with 35x12.50 r15s on it. It currently has the 350 TBI engine in it. I am wanting to upgrade to a built Vortec engine. I know about the biggest part of the engine swapping part of it, but I was needing to know a few things about other stuff.

1. Will the Vortec ECM control the older 4l60e tranny, or can it be made to?

2. I am wanting a stroker engine and I was wondering if the block would have to be machined to accept a 383 crank such as the one in this rotating assembly. Summit Racing Part Number: B13055L030

3. I also have a TPI intake and was wondering if maybe it could possibly make more torque than the Vortec intake with a good set of heads?

4. Can the TPI ECM and harness be configured to control the 4l60e or would I need a controller, because I have a whole TPI setup excluding a fuel pump (upper plenum, manifold, runners, injectors, fuel rails, throttle body, wiring harness, ecm, and distributor).

I will probably think of more things to ask later, I just cannot think of any at the moment.
When replying, depending on which question you are answering, please put the corresponding number before the answer.

Thanks,

1.just use your stock pcm.

2.I would go talk to a competent machinist before you buy any parts and find out the best setup to go with i,e.which type connecting rod, whether you'll need a small base circle cam, etc.

3.tpi runners were made for torque,so yes.why would you be using an l31 intake though?you could easily just slap a carb intake on there with an adapter for the throttle body.

4.Your stock pcm (8625)will control multi point injection just fine.its the exact same pcm as a 7427 which a few guys on this forum have controlling mpfi setups.

4. The only problem I see with this is that the TPI setup I have is a MAF setup, and the TBI is SD, but I know that you can convert the TPI to SD somehow, I would just would need to know what parts I would need, or what parts I could use off of the TBI setup, and how to convert the harness. And if I was to convert, would the harness be plug 'n' play?

3. I thought about doing this, but idk how much extra power that I could get from that setup. I have read that people have got pretty good torque numbers with the TPI setup.

I THINK...not for sure, that tbi has more hp potential than TPI. Not sure about that though. I think I've read that TPI, although making more torque, runs out of air before tbi. Just something to think about if you are planning on going to 350-400+ hp with this.

Idk about that or not, because I've read that if you want any more flow out of the TBI that you would need a bigger throttle body, and the manifold needs to bored to match it. On the other hand, a little porting of the plenum and manifold, and siamesed runners could solve the problem with the TPI which I'm planning on doing anyway.

well im gonna be doin a swap just like this but its just a stock vortec. will it all match up to my trans providing i use the flywheel and starter off the donor motor?

What year model is the truck, and what type of tranny is in it? If its a 4l60 like mine, it should bolt up but the transmissions used with the vortec engines had and extra solenoid that the 93-95 trannies didn't have (I think it was a tcc-clutch solenoid), so you may have to get a 96+ tranny.

I'm pretty sure you'll need to buy a vortec tpi base

what exactly is that? im not dumb, maybe its just different terminoligy or ive never heard of it.

and as far as needing a different trans, i wouldnt think so i have seen a few of these done with 700r4's which from my understanding is a mechanical version of a 4l60e. just confused as to what starter and flywheel id need

being vortec heads which require a special intake, a typical tpi unit will not work. I think Scoggin Dickey sells lower tpi intakes for vortecs

alrtight ill check into them. i know you need a different intake for em i was gonnna get a carbed intake n put an adapter on it for my tbi. but we shall see
