First I want to thank the forum members who recommended me to BBP.
Second I want to thank Justin and his staff. I must say that the scheduling by email, deposit and such went very smoothly. Well done. Plus I was lucky to get the time spot I wanted :)
Now my vehicle is a 2004 Chevy van 2500. Stock was a 4.8 I removed it and installed a 6.0 with a mild cam. Current programing was stock. Weight is 7000 lbs. Main usage is daily driver and towing, and of course power when I want it. Hot rodding is not in the game plan.
Arrivedrived at the meeting spot and got to work. Right off the bat Justin appeared to be a top notch guy, and proved so as the tunning went on. He dug right into the programing with some basic questions. Also answered mine and was able to satisfy my request. Next we hit the road. When you meet him at a location he just doesn't enter a basic tune and send you on your way. He tunes it by how it performs! First run was a base line. Let me say the van NEVER accelerated like this befor. Some calibrations so it knew it was a 6.0, mainly with the mass air flow, some timing and shift points. We hit the road again. Mash the gas and the van took off, shifted at 5850 ( per the computer) and POP there goes the belt. Between the high rpm, the fact that I have 2 additional alternators, and the updated 1/4 second shift times the belt wasn't happy. We pulled to a parking lot and Justin helped me get the belt back on with no tools. So now we shift at 5600 for safety. Some minor changes after this and everything is perfect! Sadly I held him up for 30 min with some extra tunning and the belt issue.
The outcome....
Previously I have the 4.8 programing with a hyper tech.
Now around town drivability is better and mileage is up!!!! On my section of road that I test acceleration I am about 300 ft faster to the same mph. Highway passing is just breath on the gas and you are past someone.
More to the tuning. Forget the obvious power increase. But lets talk about driving and shifting, along with torque converter lock up. The shifting curve, and tc lock up are progressive! It shifts faster all the time, but the shift points and tc lock up are based on throttle possition. When driving I found this to be a great thing to have. WAY better then the hyper tech programing. He lowered the tc lock up speed for me also. And he got rid of the blasted stock programed hold full power back for one min. suprised to hear this was a factory setting, but at the same time not.
To anyone who has thought about having BBP do your tuning. Stop waiting like I did. Do it, do it now it is by far worth it. If possible do the in person tunning like I was able to do. ( locations are posted in his section )
