I've got my 1975 C10 2wd in my uncles bodyshop getting all my body work finally done after 2 years of saving up for it, I need some help with paint ideas..

Right now for paint it is a custom dark blue metallic with existing light blue (almost Robins Egg Blue) on the interior and firewall.. I was considering going to a two tone (split at the body line) grey metallic, not quite a charcoal grey but a dark grey for sure, or the same dark grey metallic with lighter ghost flames up front without the two tone.. This is where I need opinions and advice, anyone have any custom paint schemes pictures or have any ideas of what to do? I'm not looking for a wild paint job, but looking for one that definitely doesn't say stock. Also how hard is it to remove the bed off of a 75' to get the back of the cab, my uncle has been doing body work for years but mostly only muscle cars so he wasn't into taking off the bed to get in there, but hopefully it'll be easier than he thinks..

I know it is a lot of questions in there, answer what you can and hopefully I can piece them all together to figure stuff out.. Finally figured out how to add pictures, hope it helps

Thanks in advance,
Dan

the 73-87 bed bolts are around the toughest and maybe the older trucks too. They use a carriage bolt(round head) inside the bed floor should be 8 of them and a 3/4 I think nut down in the frame. You can cut them off underneath with a torch or soemthing, or you can spot weld them to the bed floor and try to remove them. No being in a bad rust area helps alot. Soak them with penetrating lube really good for days before. Or you can cut the heads to get a wrench on them, but if not then have someone stand on them at least while you try to remove them. often times an impact and swivel with extensions is the best bet.

Haha I should have known it was going to be a pain to get them out, now that you mention it, I know the bolts you are talking about, and ya I'll bring my compressor out there and hopefully I can rattle them off with my 1/2" impact.. There is a decent amount of rust in the box, but ya I'll put some penetrating lube on it tomorrow and see how it is on the weekend.. Thanks eh? I'll keep you updated on how that goes... I'd obviously rather get the box off and get the back of the cab and box painted and gives me a chance to paint the frame..

I was just up at the shop grinding off some rust so I'll maybe put some pictures up in a bit.. It looks like someone was definitely in there before patching it before I got it..

Just some pictures of the rust and what the old patches look like.. I expected more little ones and less of these big ones.. Oh well, at least I'll get a new paint job of it..

them aint bad they can be patched over, just cut out the old like an inch away from the rust or any pin holes and then weld in new stuff.

As for the bolts 1/2 impact and compressor is the way to go my frined, just soak em good for a couple days, and have somebody stand on the bolt head up top. if they start to spin you have to cut the head to put a wrench on to hold them or spot weld them to the bed floor or something to hold em so you can get the nut off.
