where is the negative brake wire under the dash or hood that i hook the brake wire upto the controller? i have tested the small 4 white wires and they are constant grounds. i cant find the one that grounds out when the pedal is pushed.

if your talking about a 96, the diagram says its a pos from the fuse panel switched at the brake switch then goes to direction switch on white wire. if your controller only accepts a ground you have to use a relay

i found a green wire with a white stripe that is a constant ground when the key is off but when its on it only gets a ground when the pedal is pushed. i have a tekonsha brake controller and the green light is on when the trailer is hooked up but the doesnt turn red when the brakes are pushed and the trailer brakes arent working. i tried to manually ground the white wire and the light still doesnt turn red and the brakes dont work. could it be a bad controller?

Look on Tekonsha's web page. Should be www.tekonsha.com
I believe your brake wire should be a pos not a neg which would explain why it doesen't work.

Chances are your '96 may not have them. If it did it would be a heavy gage blue. If it is there it may be tucked away under the master cylinder with a heavy gage orange wire.

i have a tekonsha brake controller and i think mine was a red wire off the brake switch that i used, and mine works fine. if i remember when i go out to my truck i'll take a look, but my truck didnt come with wires already under the dash so i had to run my own. i'm pretty sure kcb is right, should be a pos wire for brake signal

Hey White-
Can you explain which of the four white wires it is? I have a 1995 K2500 and have everything else wired up. I'm hesitant hitting them with a test light because someone told me the other white wires were related to cruise control and since hitting the brake disables cruise control, you might get a signal on an incorrect wire. So alright pal, which one is it?
