Hi,
I own a 77 camperspecial, and maybe I am just not used to it, but when filling up with gas, I have to Hulk a mania the gas pump to the truck. If i let any pressure off it, gas starts to spill out of opening where i am pumping gas.
Is this just a normal issue with older pickups? I thought maybe an o ring or something, but it only spills out while i am pumping, so I am lost.
Just wondering if anyone else here had this issue, or had any tips on this dilema. Thanks again for your time, and responses.
Have a blessed day.
Matt

I don't have this problem. Your vent could be blocked.

my 73 done this. it ended up being a kink in the filler hose (to the tank).
as mentioned: Could be the vent tube.

Mine will kick the pump off if I put the nozzle all the way in. Usually just stick the end in and then it's fine.

Huh go figure, good advice guys, thanks!!!!
I will look into the vent, and the filler hose. Its a work out holding the pump that close to the truck haha. Im only 140 lbs, and I have to lean in all hard to keep from watching my gas spill out onto my foot. Its a better work out then LA Fitness, and it saves 30 bucks a month haha.
Thanks again for the advice!

The wife and I were sitting around thinking about this issue, and she thought that maybe the "flow" of gas from the pumps were slower 30 yrs ago, then today. I put gas in later that day, and didn't squeeze the handle so hard, so the gas came out slower, and I had no issues at all. Whether the flow was slower then or not, this seems to solve my issue for now. I knew I was keeping her around for a reason haha.

I'm fairly certain that is a common occurrence. My 83 will kick it off if i have the nozzle in all the way and my father's 86 did it as well.
