I think it will look cool with bigger tires then.. I think body lifts can be a pita to install from what i've read and for some reason I saw something posted that there not safe?I guess because your sitting on 3" alum spacers and long ass bolts? I dunno.. I dont think thered be a problem.. Just try to get some gap guards to cover the extra gaps and be sure to get a kit with the different bumper brackets.. One thing I dont like though it when you see a truck with a body lift and then theres bif spacers in between the trailer hitch and the bumper since its raised I hate the low hanging trailer hitch look...
I say go for it let us know how it goes.. If you can post a write up on it.. I dont have any plans for doing it on my truck I don't wanna get that involved in anything other than a engine swap on my truck=)

what size tires are you going to go with then 305/70s?

looking back on my body lift i like it but it really makes it a pain in the rear to work under the hood.

Well my obs body lift was easy. I made gap guards out of tin metal bolted it to the fender well and you can really tell i have a body lift. And my suggestion is do something for the steering cuz my truck when i turn i can hear it rock. But make sure u get all the bolts out before you jack up the body. Or else you will have dented fenders :whyme:

I wouldnt do it until you get much larger tires. CMIIW but dont you have the 5/3 already? If so and you add 3" that would be 8" ( yup im that smart ) you could run 315s easily. I cleared 315 on mine with the 7"
Body lifts are fine if done right, but looks goofy as **** when you pop the hood

i know im gonna get some crap for this but im gonna run my 265s untill i can afford bigger tires it may look goofy for a while but untill i can afford the new tires itll have to suffice haha then im thinking 33s cuz i like some fender

Then why lift it?
It looks good now, just leave it if you cant afford tires.

i wish it had a little more fender as it sits now so i dont think imo its gonna be too bad and it wont be long before i can get bigger tires

I did the 1.5" bl and 33's and I like it.. not to much gap. and a lot easier to install. IMHO

^^^^ DOOOOD Long time no see...
5/3 + 3" BL on 33s would look decent IMO. I have a zone 1.5 to stack on top on my 7/4 one of these days, and I am running 305 55 20 which comes out to about 33.40 x 12.60, but inflated and installed its about 33" tall and 13" wide ( sidewall to sidewall ). I think the 8.5" and 33" would have a nice proportional look.

okay so i jacked it up 3 inches just to see what it would look like rough estimate and heres a pic or 2 i dont think my tires look toooo bad

Dont listen to the "get bigger tires first" you are like me. High school baller on a budget. Heres how i look at it. Lifted, decent sized tires, happy tranny>lifted, bigger tires, sad tranny. I imagine regearing is not an option. Ive got 8" of lift ad 32s. And my truck looks decent. As soon as i get a decent job its getting fox shocks and 4.56 regear and 35s. But i can wait as can you lol. But this is all imo

Yes i said that. I mean ya i would love new tires but most people cant wait to put the lift on. But this was all in my own taste. And for a kid who is leaving for college in two weeks who had to pinch pennies to get the stuff i wanted. Im pretty proud of my truck although i would love 35s

No need for the smart*ss comments. Thats why i dont wanna step up tires just yet. I believe the op has 5.3 and 3.73 so his truck would perform better with 33s or 35s than mine could dream of with current setup

2days mind you it rained during the first day it was dark the end of the 1st day and the steering shaft made me so mad i quit for the night oh and i used all hand tools i didnt have any impacts or anything to use and it took me about 9 or 10 hours, it should of been done faster

It can be done in 6 hours if you have air tools and will power not to get distracted. Otherwise 8 to 10 is about average, for us amateurs. I have a zone 1.5 and some say 4 hours for it, but I doubt that is real, sure its not even half as intense as the 3" and half of the stuff you have to do with the 3" you dont with the 1.5". My buddy did a zone 1.5 on an f150 in 6 hours. He said really all you gotta do is take the bumpers off first, then loosen the cab bolts and d them one at a time. On his 150 it didnt need any extensions so it was real straight forward. I would image the 3" is waaaay more involved

yeah we had an impact but it didnt work after the first bolt :chair: and at first imo i didnt like my body lift but im liking it now i need to get step rails and it will look btw everyone i finally decided to take the trim off my truck it looks 10x better now

Good job. And great reference!
I'm doing the 5/3, 3" BL, and 35s in a few days all at once so I'm not sure what to expect. Would you say there is a pretty noticeable height difference with the 3" BL added to the lift you had on already?
Are you pretty confident you can fit 35's with zero rubbing even on a complete turn to either side?

If you managed to get 35s to fit with a spindle lift, then they will fit with 5 more inches of lift.
I have run 35 12.50 on my truck with no problem other than trimming, 315s with no issues after the initial trim, even ran 325 65 18 with small rub, but thats cause the rims were 18x10 with 4.5" backspace. they pretty much hit everywhere, and I didnt drive it very far before they were taken off
I have a 7" lift by the way

Well the problem is they don't fit perfect. I catch the bumper every time I'm in a parking lot and it is funny/embarrassing watching all the heads turn as they try to figure out whats making the noise haha.
But my concern is 2" more in front still won't give me full clearance in the parking lot when I'm doing parking maneuvers. So I'm kinda planning ahead money wise as to what I'm going to need to buy if I add the BL to the equation
I'm guessing steps are a necessity if your up 8" of total lift?
Plus the summit kit doesn't come with gap gaurds so those need to be made, anything else that needs to be bought extra when doing this BL?
And from what it sounds like, the BL can be done with no special tools needed?

okay yes step rails are needed to make it look clean, ill send u the link to the gap guards i made i like them better than the 90$ ones and you should be able to fit 35s if u get 35s on it i wanna see because i want 35s but i cant afford em yet and yes you can do it with no special tools, the steering extension is the biggest pain the A$$ ever i ended up grinding it down to fit

I just wore out my 33's and put on the 35s yesterday, Ill try and get a pic up of how it is now with the 3" spindle then Ill get one after the 5/3 is put on, then another after the 5/3 + the 3" BL so you get the whole shabang ha.
Thanks for that link! very helpful and saved me the $90 I was going to spend on it ha.
