Removing Chrome Plating from Grille

I am planning to paint my grille the color of the rest of my truck. I am just curious what the best way to remove the chrome would be. I know on RC cars i have used oven cleaner before and i also have used brake fluid. just want to make sure before i use somthing that will harm it.

Not sure what truck you have. Chances are the grille is plastic.

Sand off the chrome coating and prep it properly before painting it. That work will go a long way :cool:
