I've always had a thing for RCSB 73-79 trucks :D
There was a red 78 Chevy k10 with a 6+3 lift, crate 454, 14BFF swapped in and a Dana 60 up front for sale when I was younger, down the road.. had white stripes, cowl hood, tube bumpers, 38s and headers with cutouts...
It was everything I wanted, then a friends dad bought it, let his ******* son drive it, the kid crashed it in his own backyard, destroyed it.
Thats a badass truck you got there, keep it looking good!

I would replace the sh*tty wood with nice wood...nothing like a old school bed :D
You can buy diamond plate from any respectable metal supplier though

yea, diamond plate is pretty expensive too.. Originally, Chevy wood beds were made of yellow pine, a very soft wood, and not very durable to severe weather, government banned the harvest due to over harvesting, and there are better/ nicer looking woods out there anyway.. Wood bed kits are much less expensive than diamond plate, and the seperator strips, if savable you can get just the wood kit which will be even cheaper. Get a hard wood. Oak and Cherry are both very weather resistant, and oak is common for the ready made kits. you could have a local woodworker make whatever you needed tho.

If you're going with a dark paint color on a truck I'd get a nice light stain for the bed wood, but if the color is light I'd go with a walnut stain. I like contrast. Definitely use a hard wood, and awesome truck! Love the 73-80's!
