coilover shocks?

I have an 85 silverado i am working on. the shocks are pretty much shot, so i put new gas charged shocks in the front. i was thinking about coilover shocks in the rear, but they are more expensive. what are the advantages and disadvantages of coilovers vs. gas charged?

you have leaf springs. you do not need coilovers. if the rear was linked, then think about coilovers.
