Got a 95' k1500 chevy 4wd 6.5 liter v8 diesel engine.

Got problems with the truck, the truck out of no where just dies off, and it takes a while to start back up. I normally get it started by releasing the air in the fuel system. But i always have to be doing that, and sometimes it doesnt work. The trucks dies out either at idle or when im driving. Please help , i hate breaking down a lot

I'd look straight at the PMD if you haven't replaced it and relocated it out of the engine compartment.

I'd also test the lift pump operation.

where exactly is the lift pump located? also The pmd where it is located as well? and how to test the lift pump?

Lift pump should be on the passenger side frame rail/. Just follow the fuel lines from the tank and you should find a small part that looks like a gasser fuel filter with a 2 wire connector going from it.

The PMD is originally located on the side of the injection pump (driver side if i remember correctly) and is a small black box attached to the side. It is best to take the PMD and mount it out of the engine compartment, so that usually requires and extension harness and a remote mounted heat sink of some sort. The previous owner may have done this to the vehicle or it still might be exactly as it was stock. In which case you should extend your harness (or buy an appropriate sized extension harness if you don't want to cut anything up).

As for testing the lift pump, you should hear it make noise when you turn the key on but leave the engine off. It should prime for a few seconds and then shut off. If it doesn't do anything, then the lift pump may be dead or you have a bad oil pressure sensor. If the sensor is bad, it will shut off power to the pump (safety feature).

Yep, classic PMD failure.

You can make your own harness, just saying. Only thing you have to remember is to leave the ground onto the IP. If you don't, no joy.

I mount my PMD's behind the drivers side headlight. Decent airflow, and it doesn't get to much weather interference.
