I want to put a 2006 GMC diesel engine with Allison transmission I have in a 1993 Chevy 3500 diesel dually!
Is it possible?
scale of 1 to 10 how hard is the conversion?
Thanks for the help!

On a scale couldn't tell you depends on your skills in fabrication, wiring and if you get the proper body control modules out of the '06.

anything is possible..like mentioned above you are only limited by your own ability and/or finances

Thanks for the input!
I have the ability and the funds to make it happen!
I have the whole truck (06 GMC 3500) with the 6.6L engine in it, so I have everything I need to upgrade the 93 chevy to the new gen motor, etc.
What is absolutely needed off the 06 GMC to upgrade the 93 truck?
once again , thanks for all the replies!

you will need everything electrical outta the donor truck unless your really good with wiring, your gonna have to make your motor mounts, hack up the core support severely to get the dirty i/c to fit, front d shaft will fit if its 4x4 the rear will need a 1310-1410 bastard u joint if you dont use the donor rearend, you will ahve to make a carrier bearing mount if its a 2pc rear shaft, the mounting flange will have to be cut off the old steering column an welded to the new one if you use it which i recommend along with using the donor fuel tank. alsoyou will need to get a tech 2 or EFILive v2 to disable passlock if you dont use the donor steering column an bcm.If you have any other questions or need pics pm me i did a lb7 (02) swap into a 96 3500 dually

User Duramaximizer did it on his OBS Suburban.
The engine fits. Downpipe is tight.
A 2" body lift is extremely helpful for clearing the trans... though with the 3500 being an HD you should be okay.
Yes, it will work.
No, it won't be easy or cheap.
Unless you want to do something that Chevy didn't do, like put a Duramax into a Suburban, you're really better off finding a used 2004.5 or newer (LLY or LBZ, avoid the pre-2004.5 LB7) 3500.

Its cheaper. Its easier.
I would have gone D-max if I had the extra funds but none the less went with the 12V Cummins. I'm loving my truck even more now.

Well considering he already has the Duramax, I don't think a Cummins will be cheaper.
