Hey all,

I am new to this site. I am needing to find a Quadrajet Carb for my truck.

It is a 1974 GMC Sierra Grande 3/4 ton pickup with a 350 cid motor and TH350 transmission. The motor that originally came in this truck was a 454, but by the time I got it, It had the 350 in it.

The truck was running, but was cutting back alot, so I replaced the plugs and wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor button, etc. but it was still cutting back, so I figured that it was probably a clogged up carb, so I took off the carb, and rebuilt it. When I put it back together, I noticed that the fitting that holds the fuel filter in the carb was leaking, and once I pulled it back apart, I saw that the threads were stripped.

I have been to O'Reilly's, Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, Rock Auto, Summit, Jegs, Napa, and Carquest trying to find an oversized fitting that I was told I could get for the carb. Every fitting I have gotten so far has been the same size fitting that I already have, so it hasnt solved my problem. I was told that I would need a new carb body, but would probably come out better just finding another carb that the threads werent stripped and to just rebuild that one.

What I need is a Quadrajet 4 barrel carb with a manual choke for an early 70's model vehicle that is capable with a 350. If anyone has one, PLEASE PLEASE let me know.

This is a work truck that has now been down for over 4 months trying to get this straightened out.

Thanks in advance!!

just get on c-list and look for a Edelbrock carb. you will be way ahead of the game..you will want the 1405 (600cfm man. choke ) or the 1407 (750cfm man. choke)..
but i think the 1407 will be a bit much for that 350 if its stock..

i had the same issue with my 77 when i first got it, i've since changed to another q-jet but to get by with the problem when i did my rebuild i pulled the filter out, jb welded the fitting back in place and put a clear inline k&n filter just before the carb

it was my daily driver at the time so i had to get to work the next day and it did the trick great while i hunted down another carb

i was able to rebuild mine, then get a AN fitting the proper size and JB Welded it into place. No leaks ever since. Now just use inline fuel filters.

Still looking for one? I have one I just pulled off my '74 K10 w/ 350. I won't be using it after the rebuild is done. I did "hot tank" it to clean it up. If I were going to use it I would send it to Sean Murphy ( http://www.smicarburetor.com/products/sfID1/14/sfID2/9 ) like GreaseDog suggested for a complete rebuild, but that's just how I would do it, the truck was running with it just fine but I tore apart the block to see just what has been done and will be putting a crate motor with fuel injection so I don't need the carb anymore.
