Hi all,
Great site with a lot of information.
I have an odd ball project. Putting a 93 nv3500 into my 95 caprice. Everything is installed and ready to run minus extensive bleeding of my clutch lines.
I have been reading through posts on manual conversions and have not seen the issue I am having.

While checking my work, I noticed that my clutch fork (brand new) is slipping down a few mm off the throwout bearing (also new). This happens when I simulate the slave cylinder rod and depress the fork by hand.

I have checked to make sure the fork retainer clip is installed correctly.
Besides getting a new clutch fork, am I doing something wrong with my installation.

Also, is there a known source for a repair manual for this trans. Called the local trans shops and nobody has one?

thanks again
Matt

Have you made sure the fork is correctly seated in the throwout bearing?

Thanks for the response,
Yes I checked for proper seating. Even found an online diagram showing it.
Even put the dial caliper on the throwout bearing and it specs out to the same diameters as original.

It could be that when you actuate the fork by hand you may be pushing it up or down slightly causing the fork to deflect.

does it fall off with the slave installed?

907, I thought about that and tried with the slave. Still falls down.
Going to go grab another fork just for sanity sake.
thanks guys

There won't be a do-it-yourself book out on this transmission. The NV3500 is known to transmission builders as being a real PITA to work on; overly complicated and requiring special tools.

You can learn a little about it here: http://www.rsgear.com/articles/1998_11.pdf

Sounds like a plan. It could be the fork, I don't have much faith in new parts these days. More often than not they're just Chinese junk. Did you get the fork at the dealership?
