Hello- I am looking for opinions/experience with the 2500HD. Does the 2500HD have enough suspension to have a safe/comfortable ride pulling a 11000lb travel trailer with 1353lb hitch weight??? Should I just go with a 3500? What about timbrens? Has anyone used these and do they help?
I know that is a lot of questions at once. Thanks for your help in advance.

Well, my 2500HD has a gross weight of 12,000 pounds. I would get a diesel instead of a gas though.

GVWR of 12Klbs isn't really a big deal as the OP needs GCWR. Diesel for sure for that 11Klbs trailer.

It should handle the tongue weight fine but timbrens or airbags wouldn't hurt. I used my truck some pulling goosenecks before I put the airbags on and it did alright but its 100x better with the airbags.
I should have probably asked this first, but is it a 5th wheel trailer or a tag style trailer? Or any pictures of the unit itself?
With airbags I've ran in excess of 4,000lbs of pin weight with another 1200lbs in the bed. But 4,000lbs of tongue weight on a tag trailer would be insane and would rip the hitch off the truck.

Thanks for the replies. The camper is a bumper pull, and it's 39.5" total length which is what really worries me. It certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but it is free so I will take it. Along with that, I don't want the back end to sag and cause any more issues.

a 2500HD with a diesel should handle it just fine. if you got a 3500 DRW it would add a little stability but i really don't think you're gonna need it. i'd add airbags for extra piece of mind but you should be fine...unless you get a smokin deal on a 3500 i'd stick with the 2500HD. welcome to FSC, BTW!

11Klbs bumper pulled 39.5' trailer... Yuck. WD and bags on a 2500HD duramax should be fine. As FordeatinZ71 said, 3500 DRW will be more stable.

That's 1400 pounds of tongue weight! make sure you have a reciever rated for that such as a draw tight Ultra or Titan reciever. They have 15-17k tough wt ratings. The lighter duty recievers are only rated for 900lbs or so.
