What is throttle kicker, what does it do, how does it work? Seems to be a new name for old ECM IAC logic?

Throttle kickers physically advance throttle against load, commonly A/C, chassis mounted welder ect.
You are correct, there is IAC logic.
It's really old, don't you remember kickers on carbs?

Yeah I remember electric soliniods to increase or maintain idle for A/C, compressors or welders etc... and dashpots that slowed decel for emmissions reasons, side effect was easier shifting.
I thought it was that! Thanks. Just new to P4 PCMs... I'm old, just catching up to P3s...

The throttle kicker on a P4 truck ecm was just that. Some of the 366 and 427 trucks had power take offs and an extra provision on the throttle body to kick the RPM up when the PTO was in use. Usually around 2,500 rpm for use in applications such as the hydraulic pump of a wrecker making a vehicle recovery. The TBI throttle bodies equipped have an extra provision and a solenoid/motor on the side of them.
The same throttle body also has an integral RPM governor in it.

I've seen a 366 big block TBI like that, with those injectors, was the big block bore but injectors were smaller than a BB, but not with the Kicker or govener, I saw govener in the MASK as well.
So in the bin it is useless without the kicker and govener? One guy was talking he turned it off or flag off and had problems pulling away in first gear, manual? Changed it back and all was well? So I really thought it, or part of it did have something to do with IAC Logic for manaul trans?
Would be a good option on an off roader with welder, on board air or winch!

Thanks for the compliment, but to set the record straight, I have to say that I don't consider myself in the guru camp. I didn't know what the throttle kicker was for either. :)

I don't think that there is a flag for the throttle kicker, there is an error code, but this won't turn the throttle kicker off and on.
Fast 305; Do you know what pins were used with the throttle kicker? I imagine that there had to be a input from the PTO, and then was controlled either through the governor pin or from an separate pin.

In $OE there is a flag for "Throttle Kicker Enable" But it is checked on for BCC that I would not expect it to be used for raising idle for PTO etc..? Auto and Manual bins both have it checked, so my theory of it being for manual trans is void.
Then one for "Govener Options" which is not checked.
Haven't found a pin for it in wiring diagrams, but may be there on commercail truck wiring diagrams?

BJDR does not have flag "Throttle Kicker Enable" checked and does not have manual trans checked. So I guess this was an Auto?
BMHK has flag for manaul trans checked and enable throttle kicker checked. So I guess this was Manual.
BHDF does not have manual checked but does have throttle kicker enable checked. So there goes my theory of it being for manual again...

Whats the address for that flag, I can't find it?
Edit: Found it at 4E8D Bit 2

I have a 95 chevy tbi 454 with the throttle "kicker" on it. It is a vacuum diaphram actuator that opens in decel conditions on mine. It uses a solenoid similar to an EGR that turns it on or off during coast scenarios. On mine I have the kicker but the decel fuel cutoff feature is disabled. It appears that GM used this on the late model 454's 92-95 instead of decel fuel cut off? Maybe part of the new emissions or whatever drove them to the higher PSI injectors at the same time.

Sure would like to see a picture of it?
