I have a 1997 gmc with a 5.7 and I've looked on the internet, but I can't seem to find anyone that makes a turbocharger for it. Does anyone know where I can get one?

You mean like a kit? No such thing for the OBS. STS has a universal kit, requires fabrication.

Yes I ment a kit, and thanks.

The problem with running boost on a 350 vortec is the fuel system. You would have no way of adding enough fuel without an intake swap to use conventional injectors.

Yeah I knew about that (I think a marine intake would work), but I was just wondering if there where any kits out there for it. If I have to Ill ditch the vortec fuel injection and put something better on, which I've thought about doing just to get rid of the computer and other crap under the hood.

I would run the marine intake and an sts rear mount turbo.

Yeah but for the money for the marine intake I could just get a better fuel injection.

For OBS Vortec heads? Not really, unless you wan to install fuel rails on a carbed intake. There are no upgrade options for the Vortec injection system other than stock. You need to get a different intake altogether to be able to run larger injectors that are needed for high boost applications.

Thats why I was just thinking of getting rid of the vortec fuel injection altogether, and just go with something else.

If not fuel injection, all you have left is carbed which can be meh when turbocharging. My point above is that a Marine or RamJet intake would be a far better choice for running turbos as they will let you get the right amount of fuel dialed in.

Your only realistic option is the marine intake that does have better injection, or a carb intake that has fuel injector bungs in it. I'm sure there is another system that will work with vortec heads, but it would be big money. The marine intake would be the way to go, at least you can swap injectors to match your needs.

Can I put the vortec injection on that, or is it for something else?

That link i sent is for vortec heads. But not for the injection you have now, its for the more common injectors. Basically if you go with a turbo, take your intake off with the plastic injector setup, and replace it all.

That would be nice, but with a stand alone computer how will you control the rest of the trucks electronics?

Well I can get a stand alone computer for the transmition, and then put aftermarket gauges in.

you can use these:

Just have to figure out swapping the fuel injector wiring

A stand alone ECU for transmission alone cost around $1200, so I would just go marine intake and you can keep the free control you have over them now, plus get added fuel :D
You'd be lucky to find a 92-93 6.5TD with a stand alone 4L80E controller on it, but they are getting harder and harder to find for cheap. So expect to pay over $100 for a junkyar piece and more for a cleaner version if someone knows the value.
Plus you'd have to swap to a 4L80E which can cost quite a bit for one that isn't old or has been beat on it's entire life.
So you can start making things very expensive and needlessly complicated...unless your planning a custom low compression rebuild, custom injectors, monster turbo, etc...at at point you would need a custom everything to ontrol it,

http://www.majesticturbo.com/services.html they have very nice turbo's, you need to do the pipes yourself but if you want a nice turbo they are good, I also love garrett turbo's.

How about this, this is what I am thinking of doing if I ditch the vortec injection. http://wrenchrat.com/
I'm really just looking at different options right now. I'm not set on a turbo or anything, so iv'e been looking at this supercharger, its actually for my engine, so it wouldn't take a lot of work to do this. http://www.procharger.com/TRUCK_SUV/truck_suv.shtml
Then if I don't do a turbocharger or a supercharger then this is the next option. http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/ixxocart/products/Chevrolet_Tuned_Port_Injection-24-40.html

If you go the procharger route you will still need a different fuel system. The stock spider injectors cant support 8 lbs boost.

What else did you want? You seem to keep answering your own questions and posting links of stuff you want. Go for it.

I just wanted to know other peoples opinions on it, isn't that what a forum is for? Maybe not I don't know, you tell me.

My opinion is that you don't know what the hell you want. Your post above has three links for three entirely different directions. Its fun to post "what do you think about..." type of threads but its a waste of everyones time after a while, which is why people stopped posting.
Figure out what you want to do, then ask serious questions. People will respond.

Best part about being on a forum is you can reply to whatever thread you want or you can choose to consider it a waste of time and not reply. Depending on what your budget is and performance goal is, I would think a S/C kit would be he way to go. There was a guy on one of the forums selling a whipple s/c kit for $2500 with something like 5000 miles on it? It was on a 96 vortec 350 in a truck. If interested I will see if I can find his info.

what i would do is buy a cheap ebay manifold, and weld some braces on it for strength since they are known to crack, and grab a hx35 turbo from the junkyard off of a cummins. should be perfect size for a 350, i used on on a 2.3T mustang a few years ago with no problem, just a lot of lag on that small motor. you can use a intercooler from a 3500 for a direct fit, and bend some exhaust tubing to fit. your stock map sensor should be a 2 bar. and as long as you dont go over 8psi i think the spider can handle it. if you have the ac/delco mpfi upgrade, you can adjust the regulator for more pressure, or you can remove it, and add an external regulator for easy access. then you just need a tune. i would also upgrade to a 4l80e tranny just for safe measures, or atleast a shift kit in the stock 4l60e so that you aren't slipping the bands as much inbetween shifts.
