I am looking to install some HID on my silverado and am looking for a good kit. Are they all the same cheap junk like from flea bay? I have seen a few pay 100 dollars for the install only to have them last about a year before having to put more money into them. I also have the solid glass bulb so I figure I would need to special order new head lights that would except the HID. Thanks for any help or links

First you'll need to replace the sealed beams with custom lights that have replaceable capsules, like these: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=71
Note there's a "glare cap" over the bulb; this is essential for HID conversions as otherwise you'll blind the crap out of anybody you're approaching.
Pretty much all HID retrofit kits are going to be chinese junk, so you take your chances with any of them. The kit I got from DDM Tuning has been working well and they're inexpensive. Go to the Exterior Tech section and read the excellent sticky post "Your HID questions answered here" for tons of helpful info.
I strongly recommend using the relay kit to power the ballasts directly instead of through the existing headlight circuit. This will not only ensure the HID's work correctly, but also prevent your wiring, connectors, headlight switch, and high/low beam switch from getting roasted.

I. Bought some cheap eBay crap for mine. I bought some cheap H4 conversion headlights and a generic set of bulbs and ballasts. I lucked out on the harness as it had a relay for each circuit and the ballasts have been good, otherwise it was generic BS.
I plan on using these headlights as $10 experiments with a real projector lens retrofit.

Big thing is glare to oncoming traffic. There is no cutoff with the HID kits, but hey your not the one its going to affect haha

I was in a Kenworth dealer and they sold "sealed beam replacement headlights that were HID And projector style
Kenworths use the 4 rectangle "sealed beam" lamps
