hey guys, long story short the wiring in my truck is horrible from previous owners and the wires are starting to corrode and burn up, the last thing i want is an electrical fire or to break down and have to track down a wire like i had to do tonight (luckily i was in my driveway)

I plan on buying a whole new harness for my chevy, i did a full harness in my 67 camaro and it was fairly simple to run everything, not sure how much more difficult the k10 is going to be, anyone done it before?

Not alot. I didn't re-wire mine, But I swapped harnesses from my 87 into my 86, making it TBI. Knowing what I know now, I would have liked to wire the cab from scratch, just to clean it up, Hardest part would be the cluster. An 86 has a hell of alot less wire under the dash than my 87 did, which makes it a hell of alot easier.

Engine harness on a carb motor is dirt simple, I've done a few of them on mud trucks. Few cabs on them too, much they were very minimal, just gauges, headlights, pissers and a fan.

question, i tried looking up the harnesses on lmc, i found the under dash harness but cant seem to find the harness for the engine compartment, what would it be listed under or do they even carry it?

I'm not sure about LMC, but there are a lot of companies out there that do a great job.

so i got my harness from lmc the other day and took a look at it, it seems like more work than i intended, there are a ton more wires than i need and i need to put my own connectors and its not two seperate harnesses like my factory one is, its just one harness that gets split between engine compartment and dash...im wondering if it would be better if i send it back and spend the extra money to buy a painless wiring harness...and reccommendations?

The one you got from LMC is a painless harness. If you find a harness vendor, please post it here.

it doesnt seem like the 800 dollar one i would have rather bought, is that why its so much cheaper, plus like i said, if i put in this harness that i bought from lmc i will have a big open hole on the engine side of the firewall where the other connectors for the harness should go

Painless site says the 10205 harness is the correct one for the 80's trucks. Anyone here a painless vendor?
