:scared:

Just got my 93 2drBlazer back on the road.

Went to get a tranny filter/oil change at local trany shop.

Then of course why would anything go right for me in 2011: fluid smells burnt, some black particles in the pan. They tell me not to go on a long trip because its going to go.

I had a leak in the front hose to my tranny cooler. I let the oil level drop, maybe a bit too low?.....only once did the tranny kinda lag going round a corner one time - then I kept it topped up.

This is a 4L60E HD rebuild, with the shift kit and the corvette servos, bigger tranny cooler.... only 50K km's on it.

I hope to GOD that my negligence on a F**KING $2 rubber hose issue doesn't cost me $3K.:chair:

I went to my TRUSTED mechanic friend and he told me the guy I took it too was a scammer and that it was common to find particles in there from the material on the clutch plates in the oil?????

Is it common to find a bit of particles in the oil when doing this service?

yes if it was rebuit not long ago and the first service there will be clutch dust in the pan from the break in of the clutches. as long as there re no chunks of metal or chunks of clutch or shavings of metal and the fluid is still bright to dark red you are good.

Thanks TransBG....

No clutch dust, or metal shavings but there was a .25 cent size amount of black, small particles maybe an 1/8" size - kinda round.
I guess that qualifies for your statement, "chunks of clutch"???

I guess this qualifies me for FSC magical dumb-dumb of the year award: turning a $2 rubber hose repair into a $3K rebuild. Argh!

can you take a pic of the particle?

I was thinking of that all day, should've brought my camera and snapped a pic.

Its back together and home now.

The particles were dark color, kinda reminded me of small rust particles- flat, not rounded chunks.

I had to put 3/4 of a liter in it 2 days before.

Girlfriend said its fine,,, because our mechanic friend says that tranny guy is a scamming BSer.... I told her yes, I'd believe that IF the fluid hadn't gotten so low....but because it did - Im at 50/50 with the worrying factor.

Any specific sounds or behaviour I should look out for in the next week or so? I've never had a tranny go on me so I don't know?
