The hood on my 04 has rusted almost through by the catch for the hood. Its only rusted on the inside layer of the hood so from outside it looks fine. I have gone to two body shops and they both said where the rust is its not going to be fixable and I tend to agree. So to the question, who makes a good aftermarket hood? Is steel better than fiberglass? I fear shipping a new hood and the freight company beating it up meaning more body work to fix dents. I am not a body man and will have to pay for paint and such so what would be fair price wise to fit and paint a hood? I would think its going to require blending it into the fenders the way the hood fits on the 2004.

I would try to find one that is the same color in a wrecking yard to start with. Otherwise depending if you want to go with a cowl or not, the body shop could probably order you one. I would never go with anything other than steel personally. I got my steel cowl hood from AIM Industries and supposedly its made in the same factory as Goodmarks. Price and quality was excellent! Good luck.

When the winter is over I am getting a cowl from Stylin for my 05. My hood needs to be painted due to an inconsiderate landscaper. Insurance gave me money to repaint it or replace. If you are still looking for a stock hood around March mine will be up for sale cheap. This is the hood I am going to order if you decide to go the cowl route. http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/styleline_cowl_hood/STYCO7574/stylelinerepc130121-.aspx

I've got the original hood from my 03 sitting in my garage, but i'd imagine shipping would kill the deal..

I am looking go with a cowl hood since I have to do it I may as well upgrade. Would any one have an idea on the cost to prep and paint the
Hood? Is there any thing else I should get or do such as hood liner or any thing? It would be nice if there is some coating I could use to
Fight stone chips and such as well.

I got a quote of $496 to paint a new hood top and bottom. That was from a guy that does insurance repair over here in Burlington. That price didn't cover the cost of installing it either. I know that is a very high price so you may be able to get it done for $350 in Philly. As far as a hood liner goes that is up to you and your personal preference. I don't think I will be using one myself.
The only hood chip protector stuff I know of are those strips of clear film.

I got a price today of $920 to paint and install the hood. And no that is not including the cost of the hood. I dont know if he just did not want to do it or he is a crook.
