View Full Version : Bone stock 2011 Silverado, 15.1 @ 91.6
I was up at New England Dragway a few weeks ago racing my bike, and decided to do the last pass of the night in my bone stock '11 5.3L RCSB with 1700 miles on it. I have seen some 15.3x times posted for stock trucks so my goal was 15.1x. This was the first and only time i have launched the truck, so i timed it like one would expect with a cable throttle and with the laggy e-throttle ended up cutting a 2.31 60'.
When i felt the first 1/2 second of the launch i thought there's no way i'm going to hit 15.1, but the truck ended up running 15.19@91.6. Race weight was approx 4700lbs (with me in it and 1/8 tank of 87 octane).
Not bad for the only pass i've done with this truck. With some practice learning to compensate for the damn throttle lag i'm confident i can get this thing in the high 14s bone stock.
This is my tow vehicle/DD so no real mods are planned. I might do an 87 octane tune to gain 10-15hp and clean up the throttle response, but other than that i'm not interested in modding it. I have a heavily modded turbo car which is always very fast or very broken, that gives me enough headaches/wallet aches.
Slip attached, i was obviously in the right lane, and not at all concerned with R/T. Ironically the car in the other lane was a modded WRX which clearly needed the driver mod, as her launch was worse than mine.

Very impressive, I assume this is a regular can truck?

Yeah, regular cab, standard bed, 5.3/6L80e/3.42 locker.

That 6 speed sure does make a world of difference in these trucks.

Gen IV 5.3s are no joke. More compression (flat top pistons), better heads (243s), and better flowing intake (90mm tbss style intake).

Granted but the 6 speed is just a beast.

That is awesome! Good luck on the 14.x time slip.

Thanks. It'll have to wait until April though, local tracks are closed for awhile.

Very nice time! I don't see why you shouldn't be able to break into the 14's. The truck seems very capable.
Does anyone know what an equally equipped ECSB would do?

The 6 speed does more harm than good for 1/4 mile runs. Stock GMT 800 trucks with 5.3/4l60e were running high 14's.

My 2012 Crew Cab Titan with a CAI and Magnaflow muffler went 14.69 @ 94.08 on a 2.28s 60' time in 1,200 DA. That would be a fun race. race.

91.66 mph- pretty fast!
What do those drag equations say that is in hp??
I had a 2004 extra cab Titan- it was pretty stout-loved that motor/drivetrain-got decent mpg also-considering.
Fast 305-Has Nissan managed to solve the problem with that sorta' Dana 44 l rear end? Back when I owned one-until 2006-the rear end was a big deal-they were self distructing at low miles light service. It was a HUGE problem.
I'm guessing they must have fixed it by 2008 or so model year
That being said that 5.6 was a running motor-strong and quick revving-made the truck like a giant sports car-nissan makes good motors.

Dana 44 was strengthen'd for 2008, but still needs a good positraction available for it. Even with an open diff and WOT restriction in 1st gear through 30 mph the truck picks up and goes well, but its a top-end truck with the stock ECM tuning and gear ratios. If something ever happens to the Dana 44 after Nissan warranty expires, several companies are building Dana 60 housings to accept the Titan's ABS reluctors and brake setup. However I work at a Nissan dealer in the parts department and other than the occasional axle seal the newer, redesigned Dana 44s seem to be holding up well, even at higher mileages.

Thanks
Figured it must haver gotten fixed. It took GM about that long to partially correct the problem they had with "piston slap sound" coming from the 5.3.
Shame for the Titan-it is a heck of a motor trans-I had no complaints.

Anywhere from 240-275whp depending which one you look at. On a real dyno (Mustang) i doubt it would make anything over 250whp. Next time my car is on the dyno i might bring the truck too and get a baseline.
I'm getting tempted to mod this thing.
