Anybody know where I can find info on the towing capacity of this truck? im looking into buying a 7 ton deckover to do a lot of hauling with and with a load can expect to have 6000-12000 lbs total (trailer and load) at any time and want to make sure this is going to be reasonable for the truck before I spend any kind of money on this trailer. Was really looking for a 5 ton deckover but the weight difference between the 2 isnt much and this one is for sale privately and is much cheaper. If anyone has any personal expierences feel free to chime in.Thanks

okay let me put it this way, what of a comparable truck have you guys towed with in the 10,000-12,000 range (trailer and contets) and how did it handle. Ex braking, taking off, small hills, large hills, etc

~12,000lbs behind a 10-year-old F-350 CCLB with a 7.3L and ZF-6 can be tough at times. Not sure I'd want to do it with a big-block and three-speed in a 23 year old truck.

My 23 year old truck is in better shape then most peoples 5 year old trucks and were talking chevy trucks here not fords.lol jk. I bought the trailer anyway and tested it out the other day with a 4500 lb vehicle (8500-9000 total lbs) and it didnt seem to bad. taking off was fine, didnt notice any kind of effect there and it pulled fine doing 40-50 mph but i didnt want to go any faster than that on the road I was on.Braking without the electric brakes hooked up is deff an issue though, it stops but I need a good amount of room. going to buy a electric brake controller for my truck this week. wheres the best place to get one?

i just bought my tekonsha from ebay, they arent going to have a harness for your truck so you dont have to worry about that.

maintenance makes way more difference than age
454 BBC puts out similar numbers as the IH 7.3 ~250hp
in direct (3rd) with 4:10's i bet it will pull pretty good

Check the GM heritage site , in the vehicle information kits you can view online.

that truck should hold anything you want to pull we had a guy that used to buy hay from us and he had an almost identical truck and he would pull 450 + bales of coastal
bermuda square bales with a 35' gooseneck with hog pannels up the sides coastal weighs any were from 45 to 60 lbs a bale so you do the math
