Hey everyone, I just bought a 85 silverado and was thinking about replacing or swapping the seats. I dont need specific brands or anything, I just want driver & passenger seat and center console. Just wondering If a later model pick up is a direct fit or would I have to drill new holes? I don't need anything flashy but still would like Presentable to nice. only people rding in passenger seat would be my son in car seat or if anyone needing a ride home from work or going to lunch together. Any helP would be appreciated, thank you guys

If you're looking to go from bench to buckets, you're looking at drilling and/or fabricating new brackets.
Another option is to use the stock bench seat mounts and fabricate a "frame" to span from side to side. Then mount the buckets and console to that frame. It would have the look of buckets, but would slide front/back in unison like a bench. I was going to go that route with some C4 Corvette seats and a custom console, as it would be quick and easy. But I ended up drilling/fabricating and mounting C5 Corvette seats with a later model Yukon console/jumpseat.

Hey guys, the bench seat in my truck is pretty crappy, anybody know of an aftermarket seat that is direct fit? Like a repro version? I have been searching for a used one, but haven't seen any that are worth salvaging.

I swapped in a set of seats from an 04 into my K5, even though they don't match the interior. All I had to do was drill 2 holes for pass. and drivers side, reinforce the floor in those spots and then bolt them in:

EDIT: My truck is very messy, as this was my DD/work truck/project truck all in one and it's been broken for years now because of that

nice, i would go for some cloth 04 Silverado buckets, they are probably the most comfortable trucks seats that i have sat in. In my 04 Silverado LT it even had arm rest with them...

I put heated leather buckets in my 78. Here's the thread: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/general-discussion/classics/460388-review-pics-leather-buckets-install.html

I like the leather captains chairs in my 02' 2500HD better, they also have an armrest, but are full power, lumbar/bolster support and are heated as well. The leather is poor quality in the OEM seats, but they are still very comfortable on long drives.

I would have taken them, but the 02's interior wouldn't match then and it would just look silly

Rich, thanks for the link to your replacements, they are a little out of my price range.... you still got your stock seat sitting around... I would be interested if you do.

VicV8, your bench looks pretty good, what type are they? From what rig?

Sorry, the old seat's already gone into a re-do of another truck by a local fellow here.

I don't have a bench, those are 3 separate seats. They are aftermarket seats, but I've seen the same ones in conversion suburbans.

Suburban seats man. Got mine outta a 90 burb (still the old body style). Just bend tabs on the back of tracks to fit the slope of your floor, then drill the holes for the inside of the seats. After you bend the tabs on the back of the outside track then it will bolt up no problem. But for the front inside you would have 2 options.... the stock bracket would have to be remove from the burb (welded to floor pan), or you can make your own. I used 1/4 inch flat iron for a bracket. Cut it it to 5 inches an bolted it to floor pan then also bolted it to the tab on the track. Worked out great. This took prob 2 or 3 hours, but i spent alot of that time talking, looking for bolts to use in the new holes, looking for tools that i sat down an forgot where i put them. Lol the passenger side took less than 30 mins. Cuz i decided to get serious cuz i had to get home. Was at my uncles shop. But i picked up seats an center console from junkyard for just under $90. I like it it all looks stock, looks weird right now cuz im changing interior color to tan. So it dont look right with the red dash, door panels an etc. Lol but wont be long it'll all match. But can post pics if ya want. Pretty cost effective way of changing things up. Cuz my bench seat was ripped.an.its like $200 just for the upholstery to recover it. But for $90 i.got 2 seats in great shape and a console with cup holders an a place to put all my junk. Lol hope this helps bud.
