The transmission in my truck, a 98 Chevy 1500 4x4 with 152,000 miles, started making noise so I had it towed home. The truck has a black bear tune for 91 octane, slightly firmer shifts, and less torque management --I can't remember exactly how much TM was removed. It also has 33 tires. Tonight the owner of a reputable transmission shop came to my house to diagnose it. No codes, we drove it less than a mile and the pump failed completely. He says I should probably go back to stock with the pcm, and he can modify the pump for firmer shifts. I asked what could be upgraded in it and he told me that there is no limit to how much money you can dump in it, but that it was a pretty good transmission as is. I'm planning on pulling it myself and taking it to him. Are there any upgrades that I shouldn't pass up? What would you do if this was your truck? What about the tune? Thanks in Advance.
