Thanks. :D I've kicked it off with a split-up of an old tech post of mine and put a notice in the monster sticky-thread in the Tech section; hopefully we'll get everyone over here and contributing soon!

454SS,

What is that whipple setup in your Sig pic? I just picked up a used Whipple kit for my '99 7.4L Sub, and I've been doing a LOT of research and I have yet to see a 7.4L whipple mount on top of the intake like that. Is it a custom intake?

More details, PLEASE!

Thanks!

That is an old Whipple setup that has been discontinued. It was specific for the TBI engines. I have seen a pic of one somewhere a while ago but nothing recently.

We have a whole forum here for topics related to big blocks so please do start a new thread with your question - otherwise if everything gets asked in the same thread, it ends up 467 pages long like the previous one. :D

Yeah I used to like the old thread but there is way too much crap that seems like a lot of it is the same thing over and over again. I gave up on keeping up with it. I can't sit in front of a computer for that long to keep up with this thread and my Chevelle thread along with my boat one... So are we doing all big blocks or just new Vortec or basically anyone with a 366 tall deck to a ZZ572? I'm still a mark IV 454 fan but I got a Gen 6 in the 99 K2500 Burb. Richard- You gotta have some interesting stuff in your collection of parts. I seen some of the trucks you put together on here.

First thing we need on page 1 is someone to dig up the casting number info so we got it in an easy reference spot I see Mortec only works through internet archives or something. I guess the site is no longer maintained? Oh well, it seemed helpful. I'll see what I can dig up.

K BERG - thanks for posting the info but can you please make a separate thread for it? We have a whole forum to post threads dedicated to each individual subject on big blocks, if we post it all in this one thread then it'll end up just like the old 467 page one which is impossible to find anything in. Thanks. :D

I would if I knew what the hell I were doing with a computer. I think it will be one of those things where I'll have to delete them and make a general casting numbers thread for GM small and big blocks. Then the rest of these guys could add the LS stuff to it if they feel the need to. Maybe one of you more computer-literate guys could help out?

No biggie, just instead of clicking the red button at the top/bottom of a message that says "Reply to Thread", when you're looking at the list of messages in this section, you'll see a similar red button that says "Post New Thread" - that's the one you want. Check it out...circled in green:

Buy them for a 95 back tbi truck. You will have to extend the o2 wires and make an extension for the egr and install a fitting for it in the collector.

You will also need a completely custom exhaust from the headers back. The reason I haven't installed mine yet is I don't see a good way to get the drivers side pipe back over to the pass side without having a pipe hanging low or right under the tranny pan.

What I plan on doing is taking the stock gas tank out and replacing it with a suburban tank, then running the exhaust straight back on each side.

How about instead of posting questions in the thread telling about the new sub forum- you actually click on the big red NEW POST button on top of the page and post a new thread where it can be found. I realize how hard it can be to figure it out but give it a try.

The truck I seen them on had about two inches of the collector cut off and a mandrel bent 90 welded on. It didn't hang down bad at all. He ran 3 inch over and merged to a single 4 inch system. I thought about a 3 inch body lift, that would allow the pipe to cross over the top in front of the transfer case. I just don't think i would like the frame hanging down like ours does with the body lift.

The funny thing is the reply is right under my post showing a nice big pretty picture of the POST NEW THREAD button. :D
