Give this thread a look, it should answer most of your questions. Thread Here (http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/general-detailing-discussion-questions/14737.htm).
Obviously the best way to keep from getting the spots is to dry the truck before it air dries. Most water is pretty hard and when it dries leaves a bunch of deposits behind, we've all "dried" as we have gone down the road but it's not always the correct way to do it. If you still have questions after reading the thread just ask, I'll do what I can to help out.

You just need to start drying it with a clean rag. Buff it to get the current water spots out.

Get a shammy, works great for getting most of the water off & are very easy to clean. Infact you should have almost no water spots after your done washing your vehicle & drying it with a shammy.

I go through about 5 microfiber towels and wash/dry in sections. Takes me an hour to wash the damn thing. Never buying black again... Looks like sex on wheels when it is clean, looks like chit the other 95% of the time. :D

Takes me about that long too, but I don't have black to keep looking good. I have in the past though so I know what you go through.
I saw not that long ago in here that rust stain removing solutions that one might find for household applications quickly and safely removes all hard water spots on glass. I wouldn't try it on paint though. Keeping a good layer of wax on the paint goes a long way towards allowing hard water spots to come off when one simply washes the paint. Clay bar tends to get the moderately stubborn spots off. However, the most stubborn of hard water spots tend to need a polishing to remove them.

You can actually remove hard water spots on glass windows using 0000awg steel wool, Removed all those scuffs from tree's, and deposits from some kinda sap, removed the hard water spots aswell on all my windows (exterior side of the window). Then I ent over the window with rainx, works great for me.
For the paint, I just simply go over hard water spots with polishing compound, then wax. I havent tried alot of things to just get wate spots off, but usually when I see spots, usually I see dirt and other crap, so then its time to clean it, again.

Mr clean brand used to sell a filter that attached to the water hose and it would remove the minerals that would leave spots. Not sure where to find them anymore though. I have a perk to where I work. At power plants we super-purify water as not to leave anybuildup or scale in the boiler. We wash our trucks with this water and it dries perfect.

I use well water to wash my truck, so if I let it air dry, it will get water spots.
I remember a few of those "filters", never wanted to spend money on a filter for washing my truck.

A good coat of wax makes it easier to remove/avoid future water spots. I have also used one of those silicone 'water-blades' to clean off the bulk of water from flat surfaces. Follow up with a shammy.

try mild dish soap it will take off wax and other deposits then re-wax the paint

Since your in south georgia, it has alot to do with the water you use. Well water sucks as far as water spots. This is what I have to do: Get one of the dryer things, it looks like a weird windshield wiper rubber razor blade thing. Dry your car as you go then hit the whole thing again afterward. No water spots.
