Well my 4wd has been making a sorta loud knocking noise up front whenever i put it in 4-Lo or 4-Hi. We thought it was maybe the front u-joints so we replaced them but it still knocks 4wd. The last time i posted this one guy said get the truck off the ground and let it idle in 4x4. Well when we got it off the ground and put it in 4-Lo all the tires started spinning... besides one. The front passenger tire was just sorta twitching and when my dad reached in the truck and patted the gas it caught and spun but u could still grab the tire and hold it where it wouldnt move hardly. But i have been mudding in it and when u really give it the gas that tire and driver front will throw mud so its gotta be spinning, at least when i give it the gas, but it makes alot of beating and banging in 4wd. Im just wondering if that hub could be messed up a lil? Im 17 and this is my 1st truck and im learning about it as things break or go wrong hahaha.I mean the sound is comming from behind that front passenger tire... What do yall think, the locking hub?

could be, just take it apart and check... only takes a minute to tear down a lock out
the front diff is an open one, you'll be able to hold one side tire while in 4WD when raised off the floor.

if it's an open front, this is more than likely normal. DO you notice it on acceleration? or bumps? if so its the front drive shaft hitting the crossmember, I'd bet on it.

Well the tire was kinda twitching until i reached in the truck and pat the gas.. then it'll spin a little, but that cant be normal. Shouldnt all 4 tires been spinning from the start without hittin the gas cuz they where off the ground with no resistance. I think that passenger hub is only halfway engaging. And as far as i know the front will turn both tires at the same time. Cuz when i went mudding and hit a really bad spot BOTH of the front tires where spinning at the same time. But aint a locking diff different from a open diff?

No... when there is no weight on the truck one tire will twitch and not spin... thats non make it spin by adding shims behind the spiders OR buying a good manual, air, or electric locker...
my truck is making the same noise... mine is a bearing inside the T case... pull your front and rear driveshafts from the Tcase if you can wiggle eathwr output shaft up and down, left or right, in or out.... you have a bearing goin out
Take the front driveshaft out and put it in 4lo and drive around if with a heavy foot... if you hear it makin noise its the t-case... if no noise lock the hubs and try again...
my bet is we have the same problem... i can also feal mine click when im holding my t-case shifter in my hand

So this is normal? Well mine has the np203 t-case so its always in 4wd unless the hubs aint locked.. So why aint it knocking until i put it into Hi-Loc or Lo-Loc?

Yup its normal because it has spider gears and its why people buy those expinsive lockers...
pull the driveshafts and see if you output shafts wiggle... and then just install the rear shaft and drive around in 4wd with the hubs unlocked and locked that way you can narrow it down.... like i said mine is deffinatlt a bearing in the Tcase

But why is only one of the front tires spinning? I don't understand that? Cuz when I went mudding both front tires were spinning

they aren't moving at the same time, more than likely trading power back and forth, my camaro did that before I bought a posi.

I can see were that doesnt make sense but its normal bro... when you in the mud playin hard on the gas it will kick posi... but as soon as you get it stuck BAM only one tire spins

Alright.. But today i put it in 4-Hi without locking the hubs going bout 45 and it sounded as smooth as possible. And usually in 4-hi with hubs locked in going 45 it beats and bangs like hell. And in 4-Lo it didnt make no knocking either, but it knocks a lil with the hubs locked. Thats why i think its the hubs
